The Penobscot Hunting Retriever Club was established in 1993 and has been AKC approved since 1995.
THE PENOBSCOT HUNTING RETRIEVER CLUB
is a not-for-profit organization which was established in 1993 . Club objectives are as follows:
1. To promote the natural hunting instincts of pure bred gun dogs.
2. To enhance the retrievers natural abilities through obedience and field training.
3. To encourage breeding practices that provide functionally sound gun dogs according to
AKC Breed Standards.
4. To conserve game.
5. To provide educational programs and training clinics to accomplish the above.
6. To sponsor testing situations which evaluate the gun dog's accomplishments of the above objectives through AKC Hunt Tests, Club Working Certificate Tests and Sanctioned tests under the rules and regulations of the AKC and offer club member sponsored training days.
7. To promote community awareness of the multifunctionsl aspects of the gun dog.
8. To encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog events.
